Benefits of the Bamboo Toothbrush

Plastic toothbrushes are made from polypropylene plastic and nylon, which are both sourced from non-renewable fossil fuels. They are essentially indestructible, which means that the first toothbrush we had when we were kids is still hanging around in some form, somewhere polluting Mother Earth.

Every year billions of plastic toothbrushes are thrown away. They are dumped into our oceans or end up in landfills, where they sit around for about 1000 years before finally breaking down.

If we displayed the toothbrushes thrown away in the United States in a year, they would wrap around the Earth four times!

Another staggering fact is that by 2050, the oceans will contain more plastic than fish by weight. Quite scary, don’t you think? But the environmental damage is entirely preventable, if we take a small and simple action: switch to a biodegradable toothbrush.

Bamboo toothbrushes are an eco-friendly alternative, because bamboo is a natural plant, fully biodegradable, thus a renewable and sustainable resource. It is one of the fastest growing plants on the planet so we don’t need to worry about running out any time soon.

We use a species called mosu bamboo, which is totally organic and wild, it doesn’t need fertilisers, pesticides or irrigation. Plus, it doesn’t compromise our dearest pandas diet. Therefore, it is the perfect material for the handle.

As for bristles on bamboo toothbrushes they should be bpa free causing less impact on our health. Our bamboo toothbrushes are nylon 6 bpa free bristles and we also deliver them in fully recyclable paper packaging.
